Good morning world. My eyes opened at exactly 7:30 a.m today. I was greeted by my lovely alarm designed by Apple Inc and the first visions in my head this morning were compiled of dancing fairies, flying butterflies and candy filled skies. Ok, maybe this is an exaggeration..... having said that, I was rather eager to jump out of bed because last night I bought Lavazza coffee, and I was excited to make it. I'm not much of an eater in the morning, so having fruit on hand is always helpful.
Oh the dreaded morning routine. I am one of those people that love my bed. I can't wait to take a shower at night, jump in my pj's and hug my pillow and drift off into dreamland. I love the feeling that each day we are given a new chance to create something new, and in order to do this we need to rest our bodies and allow the moon, sun - and all the other important players in our solar system- to do their thing. All that said, I find it damn hard to get out of bed. I feel so warm and cozy, like a snug bug all tucked up in a rug.
I don't know how to get rid of this feeling, but I do have a few musts in the morning.
1) Shower. I must take a shower in the morning. It wakes me up. I get to warm up my voice a little bit. I love the feeling of being clean at the beginning of the day and just before bed. I absolutely HAVE to take a shower in the morning- even if it is only for 2 minutes.
2) Coffee. Wait, I rephrase. GOOD coffee. Please do not hand me a Tim Hortons or Starbucks coffee and ridicule me. I want Guatemalan, Italian or Arab coffee please. I am fully aware that I am a coffee snob, but I embrace this trait because one day I'm going to own a fantastic coffee shop and bakery and you are all going to be addicted to my beans. Oh, that sounded bad. But as a side note, if you want some good coffee, you should purchase some from my good friends Dylan and Isabelle. They run their own business. Here is the link: http://www.dudeboxcoffee.ca/.
3) Music. I have a pretty rockin play list for the morning. It gets me moving, gets me going, gets me singing and dancing. I'll give you some suggestions if you want. Just leave me a comment and I'll reply.
I just wanted to say that it has been easier to get out of bed since I changed my job. I am more motivated and eager to get the day started because I'm anticipating what will come next. I think I need to calm myself down sometimes because I'm a little bit hyper (at least that's what my Dad tells me.) But, it's nice knowing that I'm excited to go to work and get my day started.
This morning we start rehearsals for a Midsummer's Night Dream by Benjamin Britten. I have a small role in this production, so I want to make sure my voice is in tip top shape and ready to go. I would have never have been given this opportunitiy in Toronto. The exciting thing about the opera world is there is always a cross over between music and dance. Tonight I have a dance rehearsal for Hello Dolly. I need this rehearsal, because last night I ate 4 home made chocolate chip cookies, and snuck one in at 3 a.m.
Ok, and the morning routine is underway. Let's grace this day with energy, vigour and humility.
